57 Murals Bring the Power of Art Across 21 Counties with 11 Partner Organizations
First Round of CHARM Murals Complete!
An exciting creative placemaking initiative from Governor Hochul, the Cultivating Havens for the Arts through Regional Murals (CHARM) program transforms underutilized public spaces into vibrant works of art, as the murals serve as community anchors, visitor attractions, and celebrations of local culture.
Drone footage was captured by Rogue FX, a full-service production company staffed by alumni of the award-winning Youth FX.
Public art is a powerful vehicle for cultural expression and community engagement – and often the first interaction a person may have with the arts. Public art projects can transform communities into cultural hubs, foster greater community pride, and bridge gaps between local communities, businesses, and government.
CHARM murals include works from individual artists, community-based design, and collaborative projects. Works range from large scale installations, celebrations of local history, youth-led designs and works that activate downtowns.
To achieve this initiative, NYSCA worked with 11 community partners across the state. For a full list of partner sites, artists and the locations of the murals click here: CharmMuralLocations.pdf
