Baryshnikov Arts Center Presents: Okko Theatre's July (U.S. Premiere)

Celebrated Russian playwright and director Ivan Viripaev, known for his unflinchingly honest style, returns to BAC with a staging of "July," which is regarded as one of the key texts of the Russian New Drama movement. This powerful solo performance by American actress and Moscow Art Theatre School graduate Jordan Frye follows a rural protagonist’s doomed search for salvation marked by martyrdom and romantic yearning. The spoken text is interwoven with an original score performed live by composer Jacek Jedrasik.
