Spoken and Seen #UseYourVoice Opening Reception

The Western New York Book Arts Center (Book Arts) presents an exhibition in the Main Gallery by WNY artist Mizin Shin, on view September 10 –October 16, 2021. An opening reception will take place on September 10, 5–8pm.

“Spoken and Seen #UseYourVoice,” features Mizin Shin’s new screenprint series along with her current campaign, Use Your Voice #StopAsianHate—a response to rising rates of racially motivated prejudice and violence. Artist’s profits from exhibition sales will be donated to organizations supporting AAPI communities.

Mizin Shin’s work addresses interdependency throughout societal systems. It looks at the interconnectedness experienced as both an individual and also as one of many elements in constructed systems. Shin visualizes connections to depict these systems as networks interdependent on a large and continually increasing number of other social entities. By highlighting the density of intrinsic connections within and between multiple networks, the work presents all items of our systems as significant—from the individual elements to the larger constructs.

In-person gallery visitation is open during operating hours.
