Navajo Weaving Workshop

In celebration of Indigenous People’s Day, the Rochester Folk Art Guild welcomes Marilou Schultz, acclaimed Navajo weaver, for a four day workshop October 8-11, 2023. This incredible opportunity will give participants a chance to learn the traditional technique of Diné weaving from one of the most important contemporary artists in the field. Students will create a small rug using handspun wool on an upright loom, as well as discuss Navajo Culture, history of rugs, and traditional ways of life. No experience is required for the class. Students will have the opportunity to learn from world class weavers and enjoy the Rochester Folk Art Guild’s beautiful 300+ acre farm located at 1445 Upper Hill Road, Middlesex, NY 14507.
