Celebrate Kwanzaa with the Children's Museum of Manhattan!

Come celebrate the seven principles of Kwanzaa at the Children's Museum of Manhattan (CMOM), from Tuesday, December 26 - Thursday, December 28! Every year families and communities come together to honor their ancestors and celebrate African and African American culture. Kuumba Drum Making
Each family celebrates Kwanzaa in its own way. Celebrations often include songs and dances, African drums, and storytelling. Honor the principle of kuumba (creativity) this Kwanza as you create a drum to play for your family.

Adinkra Unity Mural Wall
The first principle of Kwanzaa, Umoja, reminds us that we are stronger when we come together. The second principle, Kujichagulia, encourages us to stay determined even when trying something new. Join us as we come together to stamp Adinkra symbols on our evolving unity mural wall.
